Re: Let's Play a Game

I'd have to say its a 119,000 mile makeover, that engine dosn't look like its been only driven on weekends, that and the bed has to have been replaced, spid is really worn.. the rest is all makeover.

Is it worth 10k? I think buying a decent truck and doing all the same work you will easly be in it for what they are asking, but please find a better steering wheel and dress up that engine! does that name it worth it? depends on how bad ya want it i guess.

Re: Let's Play a Game

IMHO, based on what I observed in the posted photos, age of truck and average yearly miles most people drive, this is a 119k mile truck that has been freshened for re-sale. Still a good looking truck, but over priced at $10k. Again just my opinion.

Re: Let's Play a Game

I think it turned over. Shouldn't that 4 line up with the other. Once they turn over they don't line up. 20 years ago the truck had been on the road 25 years. 25 year ago I was looking at trucks judging whether the miles were over 100k or that low.

So the color change paint job was very thorough. Either inner fenders were pulled or fenders removed. Not sure why the contrasting color on firewall or why the air cleaner needed paint. Usually an air cleaner cleans up real nice. Lots of cracked up steering wheels in '95. Dash pad has been replaced because it should look like the steering wheel on a non-tint truck. Can't judge it by the bed since that's from a '67. But the seat? Why would it need a new cover at 18k, unless he just wanted an ugly seat cover?

I'd guess it's a decent truck. 119k is low mileage for 45 years. It's a nice truck for less money, like about every other truck we see for sale.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I think this story is relevant....

I once bought a truck that had 47,000 on the odometer. It had the owners manual, protecto-plate, etc and the second owner said he thought it was original miles. The original seat had no rips in it but was a little worn. The pedals were worn some. It was a nice original truck and the price was right but it just wasn't nice enough for a 47k truck. I went ahead and bought it and while looking through the owners manual I found that the original owner kept a service log in the back, and the odometer had rolled over in 1988..... I wasn't disappointed because I suspected that was the case. Things aren't always as they seem and unless you are talking to the "original" owner who can verify the mileage don't put much stock in what someone "thinks", or says.

I've decided to pass on the truck. CL ad is above if anyone wants to go take a look at it.

Re: Let's Play a Game

There are nicer fully restored low mileage trucks out there in that price & lower, so good move.
