Fuel pump question

My dad passed in 2012, my mom gave me his 97 GMC 5.7 auto. It showed up DOA, needed a fuel pump. Installed an Airtex pump, lasted almost 4 years. less than 1.5 years ago I installed a Delphi, it started acting up a few weeks ago with either hard or no start, low pressure. So I picked up an E8248 inline pump. Well, the thing is loud as heck, whines. Just for poops and giggles I wired the stock (weak) pump in so the stock pump is almost acting like a lift pump. It did quiet the inline down a little, still louder than the engine.

My questions. Is it possible to fry the relay with two pumps wired in? And two, could I possibly blow out the regulator with too much pressure?

It starts and runs great right now with two pumps.

At this point, I think I'm going to install a new in tank pump due to the whine of the inline.

I've read that the Delphi or ACDelco pumps are the best. After my Delphi lasting a whopping year plus, I have my doubts. Any other recommendations?

I would recommend an AC Delco EP381. Install a new strainer too. Part number TS7.

If not, why not just isolate the loud pump with rubber to quiet it down and wait till it craps out.

I did that last night. I ended up cutting the sidewall out of an old tire as it was the thickest rubber I had around. It's a loud whine. I love the idea of the frame mounted pump, easy access. lol

Considering its a whooping 2 bolts to drop the tank, I don't see the internal pump being a big deal.

Electric fuel pumps are better at pushing fuel than sucking it. And the pump will stay cooler in the tank.

Thanks all. I'll grab an ACDelco pump next week and give that a 'whirl'.

I think I'll leave the inline right where it is ready to go in case the pump goes out in the future.
