Picked up the grade 8 hardware at the local ace. I like that place, they leave it up to the consumer to fill in the prices of the loose hardware. $43 worth of grade 8 bolts, nuts, and washers to put this stuff back in.

So I have been trying to work on the truck for at least an hour a night. I got my fenderwells and core support back from the blaster yesterday. Today when I got home, I welded up the holes on one fenderwell and gave it a quick coat of filler.
 I have posted some other pictures. The other fender well and the core support. I will be working on those in the new few days, not going to do a whole lot with the core support, however I will weld and use some filler on the other fender well. You can see a few coil springs in the pics. I one set is the stock front springs. The other ones are some jeep TJ front coil springs I scored. Anyone used these springs do they work with a small block? I also scored the rears, all for free, so I am not complaining.

Here is a few pics of the control arms and the spindles, that I am going to take to the atv shop my sister works at, and use their blast cabinet to clean up. I am going to be ordering the rest of the parts to put my motor together, hopefully on monday. My plan is, to shoot the fenderwells, core support, and the rest of the front suspension over the christmas break.

Hope everyone had a great christmas. I know I did. SummitCluase showed up yesterday, and my girlfriend wrapped all my self picked out presents up for me.
 Milodon Re Inforced timing chain cover. Milodon 7 quart oil pan and pick up. Intake bolts, cam button, degree bushings, rear main seal, sfi flexplate, and last but not least, the Comp Cams Mutha Thumpr Retro fit cam and lifter kit. Cam and lifters will be here tuesday. Hopefully assemble the mill next week. 40 over 350 with stock rotating assembly, hyper utectic flat top pistons, 492 LT1 heads with stainless valves and z28 springs. Should run alright for a little street cruiser.

Pulled the block and the heads out today. Painted them up. Five coats of color and five coats of clear. Duplicolor engine enamel. As I was cleaning up late in the evening, summitclause showed up with the rest of my christmas present. Awesome!

Well it has been a while since I have updated. Or even been on the site. However I have made a little bit of progress. Got a little side tracked there for a month or so. My twisted knee was feeling good enough to get back on the dirt bike, so I had to ride a little bit.

Some more engine build.
1st windage tray and oil pump. 2nd Oil system primed up. 3rd arp fasteners and fuel pump block off. 4th Intake bolted up. |

Will update more this weekend. I painted the control arms yesterday. Will be priming the fenderwells and core support this weekend. Might get the front end started put back together. Ordered my torque converter so that when that comes in, the engine is ready to swing back in. Keep on keepin on. Hope to drive to the cruise on central in early April.

Some more updates.
Upper and lower control arms painted. Fender well prepped. Electrical conduit welded underside of driver fenderwell, for wiring harness. |

Hood hinges primed. Water pump, pulley and distributor installed. Fuel and ignition parts. Now its time to watch some supercross and Nationwide racing.    won't be long until I can:

I spent alot of time reading up on gun set up, cleanliness, sanding, blocking, what have you. Learned as I went. Obviously you have to have the tools to do the work, other than that, it has just been trial and error for me. The first time I painted the frame rails, the paint was kind of dull. Then I learned I needed to lay the paint on wetter. So I sanded, and painted it again, now its nice and shiny. I will gladly share any info that I have learned, just ask. The engine building, my dad helped out with. He has been doing this his whole life. |
