292 Inline 6 cylinder w/Rochester 1 Barrel Carb

292 Engine, originally out of a 68 GMC (at least according to the VIN on the frame). This engine will need to be rebuilt. It DOES NOT run but is complete. I was going to rebuild the engine but the truck I bought to restore came with a 4bolt 350 with 59K original miles so I said forget rebuilding this 292. $250 or B/O. Pick up only!

Thumbs up Re: 292 (6 Cylinder) Engine/Split exhaust manifolds/complete exhaust

I only wish you were closer to Texas. I would of bought that engine and had it in my garage by know.....

Just to put my self in line.... If you part out the engine! I would buy the motor mount stands and engine motor mounts with all hardware ( screws ) , all complete.

PLEASE P.M. Me if it gets parted out and in case I lose track of this post.
Thanks
S.C.

Re: 292 (6 Cylinder) Engine/Split exhaust manifolds/complete exhaust

that would be a torque monster with a good rebuild and the right parts. stacie david covered the good points of the 292 on his show Gearz awhile back. there exists an aftermarket exhaust manifold that fits a small 4 barrel carb. just think what some head work and a good (roller) rv style cam would do in your truck. there is a reason why the trailblazer went with a straight 6 over the v6 in the s10 series trucks......better low end power.

Re: 292 (6 Cylinder) Engine/Split exhaust manifolds/complete exhaust

Interested in the exhaust manifolds depending on shipping costs to 08753, and also balancer if u split up the motor (depending upon condition). BTW any PS parts on that engine?

Thanks.

Scott

That's the exact reason why I bought this chassis in the first place, besides the 4x4 drive train. I knew once rebuilt correctly the 292 would still have plenty of power and be much better on gas then the 4barrel 350 I will use now.

Sorry Scott but the manifolds are pick up only. Too much headache to get them boxed up and worry about shipping. I'm in Brookfield, CT 06804 so that's not as far as you'd think from Jersey. The engine didn't have any power steering or brackets when I bought the chassis.

Re: 292 (6 Cylinder) Engine/Split exhaust manifolds/complete exhaust

Understood, I know how much of a pain shipping can be. If I get up that way I'll let u know.

If u part please keep me in mind for the balancer.

Thanks

Scott

Scott, if you are anywhere near the CT border let me know and I can probably meet you. I drive to the shoreline everyday for work. Do you ever make it up to Westchester County, NY?

Re: 292 (6 Cylinder) Engine/Split exhaust manifolds/complete exhaust

The non-integrated head on a 250 and 292 are the exact same head unit they are interchangeable. The blocks are the only difference in between the two. The A/C's mount the same location but require larger brace from lower mounting due to taller deck on block. Majority of the exterior items are interchangable. The exhaust are interchangeable.

The only items which are different are the internal rotating mechanical items, crank, rods, & the block.

They are all yours man. He wanted me to ship them and that's not an option. I said if he's in Westchester I might meet him, never heard back and I'm not holding onto them. Lets bring this to PMs so I can give you my info!

Re: 292 (6 Cylinder) Engine/Split exhaust manifolds/complete exhaust

Everyone keeps telling me how rare this engine is and what a great price but no one is saying they want the whole thing. C'mon guys I'm giving this thing away. I know I'll make more by parting it out but I would really like to see it go complete
