47-54 All Chrome Dash Speaker Grill?

I've been searching for an all chrome dash/speaker grill for 47-53, but all I can find have the painted center section. I see alot of interior pics online with it all chrome. Are people getting the centers chrome plated or am I just failing at finding the correct repo replacement?

I have never seen one all chromed, honestly, I think that would be way over done. The painted area in the middle of the glove box and the speaker grille with the chrome strips above and below on the grille and glove box was one of the iconic looks.

Re: 47-54 All Chrome Dash Speaker Grill?

I've attached some examples I've seen. Maybe it is the pic angle etc that makes it look all chrome? I keep going back and forth on the original painted look. Not sure yet on what my interior colors will be and was worried the "original" center color might end up clashing.

Paint the center section the same color as the dash.

Re: 47-54 All Chrome Dash Speaker Grill?

the shiny bits (glovebox and upper/lower trim) are actually stainless, which is whiter than chrome, so the chrome spray paint matches really well. thats what I used on mine, just a can of rustoleum chrome.

Wow, looks like a pretty good match. Good to know, thanks joedoh, I may go that route.

Wow! Yeah, it hasn't been like that for me at all. Maybe I got a bad few cans? Or maybe I'm just too heavy handed?

Best of luck to whomever uses it on their dash - it looks good for what it is and if it would last, then it's a deal!

Never seen ANY radio speaker grill replacements for the 54. Got so frustrated we cut out the damaged part and made a flat recess for a tablet.
