Re: stereo speakers...where to put them?

Just sourced a used second amp yesterday to run the fronts, its a mac attack 4075, a good quality german made amp quite popular at the lower end of the market here in the UK. Its a four channel amp but I'll probably run it bridged to give 2 x 230W. Just keeping an eye out for a decent used set of component speakers for the front now!

Re: stereo speakers...where to put them?

Hey Tim,
Go with the boxes under the seat, Your truck is to nice to cut up the doors, The tweeters on the dash make it sound great because you get your high notes and they reflect off your windsheild, best of all you can get the little surface mount tweeters and place them just about anywhere. I woud also check out custom audio in lexington to see if they could come up with anything. What kind of head unit did you get. Call me, Troy.

Re: stereo speakers...where to put them?

is your cab painted? i welded the rear cab corners shut with sheet metal and cut a hole for a 5"X7". i don't think a 6"X9" will fit. later i'll carpet them over.

has anyone done a nice install (tweets, maybe) flush-mounted into that steel panel that runs across the back below the window? i could imagine that would be nice.

Anyone have any idea how much depth there is behind the kick panels that the vendors sell(Max depth for speaker mounting?)

i think pioneer actually makes a pair that are made to fit our dash. several others are made as well. pretty much all of the suppliers who carry the custom autosound stuff have 'em. also, you can get a stock 4x10 from wal-mart for a few $

many manufacturers still make 4x10s. it'd prolly be better to get the pair designed for our bracketry, though. i haven't heard them, but it's the route i'll eventually go.

The speaker has to be 10 OHM or it will burn up the original radio. I did a search with google and I found some one that would rebuild mine for $45.00.

Re: stereo speakers...where to put them?

I made a set of boxes with 8" subs and amp to put under my bench seat, which thumps your butt pretty good. And built a custom center console to mount the cd player and some 2 sets of 2 way mids and tweets. It sounds good, all for about $500. Click on the link in my sig and check out my 72 GMC truck pics.

Re: stereo speakers...where to put them?

I still say, in an area as small as a truck cab you just need a sub, amp and decent set of components up front to get a fantastic sound. I'll let you know what mine sounds like when it goes in. I'd keep the tweeters and fronts as far up front as possible. The way someone explained it to me is you don't go and sit with your back to the band at a concert, so why do you need rear speakers? If the front soundstage is setup properly you'll not need them.

It appears this person is in Oregon. I've got an email to him now and if he's somewhat close by to me, I'll pick up a few for board members.

EDIT: He's clear across the state from me so I can't do it.

Anyone know where Jerald Jeffers (the truck that Dennisthemenace posted) got those kick panels with the tweeters?
