Very cool. I've often thought that I wouldn't want to delete the cap even if I deleted the fuel tank in one of these. Glad to see the innovation, and it's cool that you're applying your real life skills and knowledge to provide a well-designed option.

Hey PJMoreland, I installed the dummy filler neck and it worked out perfectly. I used the old factory grommet and used blue loctite on the four screws. The older grommet was actually tighter on the neck than the new grommet. So everything work nicely and in my opinion was worth the purchase. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to keep the original gas cap look when removing the tank.

Yes, I kept the one that came with the truck (72) and used it with your filler neck. It actually fit the neck perfectly. And I like the look of this set up because it matches the aux tank cap and neck.

That's good information. I will modify the For Sale listing to let other people know they can use an OEM 71-72 grommet with it.
