Re: Ever unbolted Bed and had all powder coated

On my Jimmy project, I will be powder coating everything but the outside of the bodywork. So firewall, radiator support, inner fenderwells, wheel houses, bed, cab floor, inside of doors, underside of body tub, inside of tailgate, inside of fenders, underside of hood, basically everything you wouldn't put high build primer on. Way more durable and a fraction of the price of paint.

I think member "newtype72" had his panels powder primed then did body work and painted over that. Check his build thread.

Re: Ever unbolted Bed and had all powder coated

Never been to a Brothers show, when I look it up it just shows how to register your truck, since my frame is at the sand blaster, and the rest of the truck is spread out over a fairly large geographical area at the moment, I don't see me driving it there. Is there a ticket gate at the show, or what?

Ajax in Van Nuys is doing my frame, stripping all the 4WD brackets, grinding off all previous owners snot welds, sand blasting and will be doing the powdercoating. They'll be doing the body as well.

Yea Ajax is a pretty good operation, I didn't even have to cart my frame to them, they came and picked it up, and they'll do the same with the body. The other powdercoater I talked to wanted me to get everything to them myself...on a rotisserie no less.

Rusty bolts? I thought you were in So Cal? I will say though, I don't know what GM was thinking with the rocker design on these trucks, my rockers were rusted all to hell, and yet, there is virtually no rust anywhere else on the truck not even in the cowl plenum.

My truck is in Simi Valley right now, so finishing up my tear down this weekend might be like working in an oven, what am I saying Simi Valley itself is like an oven, so the show may be a welcome diversion. Pretty much all I have left to do is get the stubborn Phillips heads out here and there, take off doors, tailgate, windshield and top and it's a bare tub ready for the blaster.

Though I'm all curious about "Powder Primed" now.

Re: Ever unbolted Bed and had all powder coated

Oh, well I'm not in Simi, the truck is, I'm in Hollywood Hills. Simi is where the truck is being dismantled. Fresno huh? Mines from Madera, hence "Project Madera". As I got her and how she looks now
