2001 Bazer Stiff Suspension

I have A 2001 LS (two door) Blazer (2WD) that gives a terrible ride. The front suspension seems to be very stiff. I had it in the repair shop and the technician said the shocks seem to be fine, but it doesn't flex much over the bumps, sort of like riding on a hay rack(mainly the front). Is there something that can be done to soften this up a bit??? It's so stiff it gives me back aches on long drives. Or is it trade in time???? I noitced the sway bar is smoked down nearly all the way, but they say adjusting that would not soften it up. Any idea's???
