Help ...new brake lines, bled brakes - CAN'T GET OUT OF PARK ! '99 Suburban ...

My husband is having a BAD day.. he did all this brake line work...didn't seem an issue bleeding the brakes... the light went off eventually & all that..

Then he can't get it out of park.. he looks this problem up on the net.. everyone is talking about some "switch" above the brake pedal... he can't find it.. then he gets a virus on his laptop trying to open a thread about it..further ticking him off...

Then he decides to disconnect the new $150 battery he just bought a week ago & can't hook it back up - as the threads may be ruined...he's not at all in a good mood..

So we're in a real pickle here.. after work tomorrow he plans on getting a new Screw for this battery... then he still has to deal with this "can't get it into Gear" issue...

What caused this to happen to us??

if he hits the brakes do the rear lights come on? if not we might need a brake light switch on top of the pedal it sends a signal when pressed to turn on the brake lights and release the gear shiftwer
