my better than a minivan truck crew cab long bed stepside

http:// Bought this truck a wile back to replace the minivan I was stuck driving. It's a one owner 1980 c20 camper special. It had a rotted bed and front fenders I scored a set of repro fenders at a local junkyard and also a set of bumper guards. Yesterday I bought a ruff one owner 73 longbed stepside because I wanted the bed it's a shame the 73 has been sitting 10 plus years and after some tinkering I drove it home 10 plus miles but it's headed for scrap tomorrow no space. Here's a pic of my truck with the stepside I've only ever seen two other crew cabs with stepside one was a longbed lifted the other a short lowered. Hers mine at stock height. May lower it soon. The inside of the bed is almost perfect because the camper was on it 98 percent of the time. Unfortunately I didn't get the original gate but I have a ruff one to use for now

http:// http://
My buddy says it looks goofy but I love it especially because I won't see another one driving around like it. Kinda why I keep the odd ball 80 front end instead of doing a round eye conversion. Here's the donor truck. Might snag the 350/400 combo before I junk it runs damn good. Also got the camper witch I'm gonna fix up and 6 of those hubcaps that I can't wait to put on my truck once I get the right wheels. It had dodge ones on it.

Re: my better than a minivan truck crew cab long bed stepside

Just sold the parts truck for 350 so I have 50 bucks plus some oil antifreeze trans fluid and 4 ft of fuel line into it. Can't beat a nice stepside bed with a extra fender 6 nice hubcaps and a camper for 50 bucks. Now I have about 900 my crew cab truck. Wish I could have kept the drive train to swap in it though just glad it's going to help keep another square on the rd. Guy buying it suposed to be giving me 4 regular 16 inch wheels for my truck too

Re: my better than a minivan truck crew cab long bed stepside

Ok I've been doing some stuff to my truck the past 3 days I put a set of steelies with the 73s old hubcaps on it and installed some 225 75 16s that I got cheap but there a little short. I installed drop spindels I got used that completely jacked the toe in/out up so I had to stop driving it for the first time since I got it until I can get it aligned. Installed drop shackles and hangers and wire wheeled and painted the rear of the frame and installed a new u bolt because aparently I was riding on 3 and a half... I'm not happy with the drop I want it about another inch all around so I'm gonna pull the bed again and pull the overload spring in the rear and cut a half loop or so off the front. Need to find a rear chrome stepside sport bumper bad. Here's a pic

Re: my better than a minivan truck crew cab long bed stepside

Check your u bolts..

And painted the frame

also scored a brand new hood both front fenders without the trim holes a brand new chrome front bumper and a brand new sbc starter for 150 from a guy who bought a storage locker. Going to pick up a 85 parts truck for 100 bucks and trading the cab for a set of nicer front doors.

Re: my better than a minivan truck crew cab long bed stepside

Got it lowered more it now has 2.5 inch drop spindels one loop cut off front coil the rear has drop shackles and hangers and I removed the overload springs on the bottom so it about a 4.5 front 5 inch rear drop. I like it. If I decide to run taller tires again I'll have to get another set of coils and just cut 1/2 to 3/4 a loop. I also installed new rear sway bar end links that are about 3 inches shorter all new u bolts new locating pins new front bearings and aligned it with string so I can at least get it to the alignment shop. Had to install one new tierod sleeve.
