Nope, no internal fan here. Looks like I am off to Pull-A-Part this weekend. Then I'll powder coat all my pulleys and brackets while my son paints the block. If only I could convince him it needs to be Chevy Orange!!

now i got to thinking i said you could use the factory clutch type fan and iv,e seen were people have without issues , but i only had i think 3" between my water[ump pulley and the radiator and that,s 1 reason i went with an electric fan i don,t know if it was the motor mount,s that i'm using or what. but if you have enough clearance now the ac delete is,t going to change that . i was assuming that you already had the fan on the truck..

Actually when I bought it it had an electric fan setup (complete with toggle switch on the dash). I would think that the water pump pulley clearance would be in direct correlation to whether it is a long or short water pump. If I understand correctly a long water pump measures 7" from the block to the pulley. If that is correct, then I have a short water pump for mine measures around 5" IIRC correctly.

My next step was to pull the motor but now I'm thinking that before I do anything else I should probably mock up the new core support, shroud, fan and clutch before I make any more decisions/changes.

Your A/C delete pulley/bracket that you need is available brand new on Rockauto.com for $22.89. Seems a bit less expensive that the EBAY one even after adding a bit for shipping.

It is made by Dorman, and is listed under the Heat & Air conditioning category and is called an A/C Compressor Bypass Pulley, part number 34152.

I think you're still okay with that alternator ... it sure looks like a CS130D alternator with internal fan to me.

I'll take a closer look next time I'm at the shop but this one is a Delco and I swore I looked inside and only saw wire winding.

Yeah, the originals were made by Delco. That Powermaster copy from the Jegs site just happened to be one of the first pics I found to post for illustration purposes.

The fan (many of them actually have two) are deeper down inside than stator windings that are readily visible through the case openings.

I have both of the brackets, I was talking about what appears to be a brace from the top of the manifold to teh back of the tentioner. this pic looks like there are 2 (#'s 20 & 21).

yes there is a brace , there was two of them on the setup that i got off the wrecking yard truck but i'm using just one of them here,s a pic of it if you can make it out, also i seen someone on the part,s board selling the serpentine conversion,s he may have the part,s you need

What does the back of that A/C delete pulley look like? Does it use all three mounting points or only two? Hard to tell in the diagram & pics.

My local Auto Zone sells the Dorman part for $32.99 and has them in stock.

When you use the serpentine system with a reverse rotation water pump you must also use a reverse rotation fan to properly pull the air through the radiator if you don't use an electric fan.

It has 2 holes and mounts horizontally in the condenser bracket.

The 4.3 is a 5.7 with #7 and #8 cut off. The rods, pistons, bearings, and all are the same. When we built my buddies 4.3 went bought a full set of .040 over 350 pistons because it was cheaper in a set of 8 than for a set of 6, rings too.

Back to the other topic...............I personaly prefer the serpentine setup. Izzz just easy. Only downside is if you blow a belt you loose everything.................
