Re: Crash's Roof over Lake House Build

Update from Thursday:
I decided I needed to do something about the area between the bottom of the main roof and the top of the deck roofs. It looked like a prefect area for squirrels and birds to live. So I bought some gutter guard and cut it to fit the area. Looks like it will work, we will see.

Installed a few more roof panels after the wind laid down a little.

The pictures don’t do it justice but there was an incredible sunset Thursday evening. Got me to think about putting a sitting deck on the roof of the rear deck.. Not likely to happen, but you never know.

Friday:
Started at 6:00am; attempting the get some work done before the weather moved in.. Used the light from a street light, worked out ok.. the weather moved in at 6:20am.. lol
Funny thing is the rain actual made my shoes stick to the panels better than dry..

Got all the roof panels installed, 19 today, total of 62 altogether. Little over 2500 lbs… I still have many more panels left to install on the short walls.

Strip created ripping some of the panels to the proper width using the power shear.

Opened up some of the floor space…

Next step is installing the ridge caps…

Youre getting close to wrapping that up. Didn't you get the day off?

Merry Christmas!

Nice work Mark. I guess I'm not going to get to help you on this project again. Looks like you'll have it done before I have the chance.

I spy a new project lurking in the front yard.?

Re: Crash's Roof over Lake House Build

Update from yesterday’s progress… Got all of the metal panels installed (132 panels). Started and finished the soffits on the rear of the build.

I think I have about 3 or 4 days left before I call it done.. Still need to install soffits on the front and finish installing a bunch of trim.

Looking good there Mark!

I gotta ask - what's on the pole, a weather station, or a flux capacitor?

Re: Crash's Roof over Lake House Build

Did you consider putting some ridge vents in as I reckon that will trap a load of hot air in the summer. Would just help it cool off as the evening cools down so you don't have a blanket of hot air sat up their overnight.

I thought about it, but I have another building with the formed ridge and I really like it.. I am sure I will need to put sometype of vents in the roof to vent the hot air... Just not sure what yet..

Re: Crash's Roof over Lake House Build

Finally .. all of the metal is done. It looks better than I thought it would.

I have my shop back… will almost, I have to take the saw back to my son, and the scaffolding back to my friend.

I ordered some extra metal in case I messed some up, I got lucky so I have some spare in case I need to do a repair. Decided to hang it from the shop roof.

Into the shop the next project rolls..

Next step is to apply some tan colored caulking in a few key areas, install some power, and HDMI feed to the back deck for ceiling fans, lights, and tv.

Re: Crash's Roof over Lake House Build

Update from this last weekend. I installed lattice on the decks. You would think after all the other work I have done that this would be quick and easy. Not the case, I was worn out from going up and down installing framing and the lattice.

Hope to start on the electrical for the ceiling fans, lights, and TV this weekend.

Hey Mark, any special considerations for the TV being outdoors? (Obviously keeping water off it)

Forgot about your question on the TV.. I am sure someone makes a TV for outside.. I have never used one. I would think as long as you keep it dry it should be OK.. I have had on my back porch at Edmond for 4 years with no problem.

It is nice to have one during football season..
