Clutch push rod length

My truck came with the wonderful washer stack below and a spring assortment. Clutch is firm and the push rod bent at one point. Truck has a newer clutch and the throw out bearing squeaks.

I ordered a new push rod and it was way too short. I read somewhere else the gmc might need a different throw out bearing. Any more info on this? Truck is a 292 with a sm465. I'm planning a 350 swap in the near future.

Also got some pedal covers from lmc, any tricks to getting then on?

For the pedal rubber, hang the top right or left corner on depending on where on the opposite side you have the most room. Then use a short screwdriver or something to stretch the other bits over the pedal while pressing down on the rubber.

Pic 1 suggests the new spring will be stiffer.
Pic 2 suggests stripped threads?
Pic 3 shows a wavy rod, which is more cosmetic than anything.

That rod looks odd and I'd wonder what it belongs on... Nothing on a GM vehicle I've seen...

The rod is significantly longer than the replacement from lmc, what in a clutch install could require the longer push rod?

No longer have a sm465 granny four speed in my truck, 68 years young and bad knees with a clutch don't mix. Went to a 350TH / NP205 transfer unit. But, from my experience when I did have a four speed, the firewall clutch rod for a V8 2wd or 4wd both has a dog leg in it, It is not straight like that. Have read the in-line 6 clutch rod is straight but I can't say for sure that rod in the pic is such an animal. Never have played with the 6's in these trucks. If interested, I think I have a clutch rod left from my 4 spd days I can post a pic of tomorrow.

Pic I have of the V8 clutch rod that goes thru the firewall. As mentioned believe the 2wd and 4wd clutch rods all the the same. In-line 6 is shorter and a straight rod. V8 rod 20'' in length from tip to tip. One tip has a bit of wear which is not hard to fix. Have read several postings about a light weld up and file down to fit. Hope this helps,

The clutch pedal has an upper stop which is the plate under the steering column held with 4 bolts. The plate should have a rubber bumper for the clutch pedal to rest against and the brake pedal if manual brakes.
Is the plate and or rubber bumper missing?

If the pedal stop and or bumper is missing it will allow the pedal to be way to high from the floor (the pedal has a return spring pulling it up) which will cause the need for a longer lower push rod, which it seems the prior owner used washers to make it longer.

use soap or silicone spray to lube the pedal pad before installing and do start at upper corner then opposite upper corner etc. If you have a smooth hook tool use that to stretch the edges over the pedal.
