clutch slave cylinder replace
Hi all;
I've got a 1989 K 2500 GMC sierra in need of a new slave cylinder. I've searched and read through what I can find for old threads on this,.. Does anybody have any new methods to bleed this quickly before I start this? It's my daily and hoping this doesn't take 2 weeks to get it right.

Based on a photo of the slave cylinder......
Looking at a photo of the slave cylinder, it has a bleeder valve. Put a little fluid in a clear bottle and a hose on the valve and put the other end of the hose in the fluid in that bottle. Let it run into the bottle until the bubbles are gone. Tighten the valve.

Re: clutch slave cylinder replace
Thank you Speedy, I planned on filling the cylinder. Just wondering where the air gets trapped so the clutch doesn't work. Been bleeding brakes on old rigs for years, but people make this sound like a nightmare. If you do something special I guess I just wanted to know ahead of time.
thanks again

Re: clutch slave cylinder replace
Just to finally update if anybody is interested....
I changed out the slave cylinder which was more trouble than it should have been. It had been on there for a while and the fluid line was welded in tight. couldn't move it with any wrench, including a tubing wrench. Insert vise grips. I had to use a bottle torch to heat the nut to get it to break loose then it was seized to the tubing also. more heating until that broke free. The rest of the R&R went pretty smooth. Made sure the master was full and opened the bleeder on the slave and waited about a minute, fluid came out. Filled again and pumped a few times and had a clutch again. Worked great for a day and the clutch bleed off problem returned. Changed out the clutch master next. Finally got that bled and the clutch works great now. I did all this by myself so there was a lot of in the cab, under the truck moves involved. would have been easier with help. My next project is the heater blend cable for floor to defrost. It's stuck now and I think something fell down the defrost vent and jammed it.
