Back to the square side

So about a year ago I had acquired a 71 c10 in hopes of being inspired to work on a project truck, unfortunately being a previous square owner and a square body lover at heart, there wasn't as much interest as hoped. In the few month the search for a square begun and i stumbled upon a 1979 gmc that someone was forced to get rid of. With very little info from someone who had no real idea of what he had I went and looked at it. Upon arrival i noticed the truck was somewhat rough which I had an idea of anyways, after true inspection I figured the truck needed every bit of sheet metal except the fenders, and the motor would need to be gone through. After offering a very low sum of money to my surprise he took it and I limped it home. So this is it, 1979 gmc royal sierra. I dont know much about this package other than its kind of a bonaza. The cab is pretty rough with needing both floor pans, corners and rockers, I might end up swap the cab for a cleaner and early vin and title for emissions purposes. It's fairly original other than having centerbolt heads and possibly a different motor completely. Kind of on the fence if the cab is worth keeping being a rare package or if it would be more useful for someone going in a factory resto direction. anyways, if anyone has any info on the royal sierras that would be much appreciated, and I am very excited to be back on the square page!

Re: Back to the square side

I like all the older chevy trucks, but I'm partial to the squares. Start tearing this thing apart so we can follow along. I've been working on my 84 K10 for a daily driver.

Re: Back to the square side

So funny. I left NY for Georgia in 2014 and left my lifted 84 K10 up there not sure what to do with it. This summer.some extra cash bought me a 71 C10 LWB as a running project. It's been fun but Im reluctant to spend any $$$ on it I.E better seat or shifter. I think I like the squares. I may sell the 71 and get back to wrenching on the 84
