1966 inside sun visor

I have a 1966 C10 big window, short bed. I can’t find the hooks were the visors go into until you need them. I installed the new sun visors, but they move around. Can anyone help me out?

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

Honestly, I don't ever recall having hooks (or seeing a spot for them). My visors stay in place on their own.

None on mine either.
You could get some from a 67-72 truck.

There’s holes on the roof, on each side single hole where something goes there to hold them in place?

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

There were never any such thing from the factory for the '60-'66 trucks. The visors do not have the stub protruding to snap into any sort of hook or keeper.

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

My wife found these magnetic hooks at Home Depot. The visors would constantly swing away from the window when I punched it. Problem solved...the magnets work great and are barely noticeable.

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

Good idea but for now I don't need hooks. My visor doesn't need to be stabilized when I "punch" the six cylinder. Anything on dash does not move either. Just smoooooth acceleration.

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

one of mine was floppy, i removed the bracket and fixed it from the back by tightening the arm using a center punch to mash the metal where the arm swiveled, still good 30 + years later.

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

I got a brand new rebuilt 350 comp cam, new heads, ceramic headers, edelbrock carb, duralast intake, electronic ignition, a/c, new power brake master/booster, cable assist gas pedal.I need the hook because when I take off it moves my visor and now it won’t budge!
I got the passenger side but it’s not installed yet, having issues with the visor won’t cooperate and slide in?

Glad the magnetic hook idea has worked for some of you whose visors will not stay put. Nice find and idea by my wife.

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

A little off topic and embarrassing but...I bought new arms and visors and I can not for the life of me slide the visor onto the dam@ thing! It is so tight !!! Any tips ? I've tried grease and light sanding. I'll bend something as is. After all I've done that was hard this is kinda silly lol

Re: 1966 inside sun visor

I had a heck of a time with mine? Driver side wasn’t too bad but I can’t get the pass on or off? It’s stuck half way in between.next time I’ll have the vendor “pre-install” it! I used light 3 in 1 oil on mine, applied with my finger tip.
