speakers under the bench seat

I did some searching with no luck. Does anyone have some 6x9s under their bench seat in a box? If so do the boxes fit well under there?

Tom

Re: speakers under the bench seat

I did it on my green 72, they stick out a bit but I have long legs and never interfered with them. Sound was pretty good as well and a lot better than cutting up a door IMO.

Re: speakers under the bench seat

I have 6x9s under the factory bench seat in my truck. They work well but the sound can get muffled at higher volumes due to the seat.

Re: speakers under the bench seat

I just finished my install, I decided to go with four 4" infinity's in custom boxes running off a pioneer deh-6000ub. No modifications to the truck at all, and the seat can move through all its travel without issue. The 6x9's were too big imo and a set of 6x9 boxes would not fit. 6" x6" is about as big of a box as will fit without interference, imo.

This is with the seat in place and all the way back, the overhang at the front of the seat makes it look closer than it is.

My original plan was to relocate the faceplate but I've found a piece of reflective tape on the floor vent allows the remote to work if it's pointed at the trans tunnel.

Re: speakers under the bench seat

Thanks for the replies guys, and the pics badd. That's not a bad looking setup for some better send. I have 2 4" infinitys laying in the garage, didn't know if they'd be loud enough though . They are good speakers though

Re: speakers under the bench seat

I really wanted to go with the 6x9's, I've got two sets of infinity's sitting in my basement. But besides the issue of fitting them, with the 100 watt rms they're looking an aftermarket hu will starve them for power at anything above mid volume. The 4" are only 35 rms and are much happier running off the hu. I just wanted tunes without modifying the truck in any way and it all just fits the way it is. I believe the speaker boxes are 5.75"h x 6.375"l x 10" w

Re: speakers under the bench seat

No photo but I bought 4 Marine Speakers (Kenwood) I think Got the surface mount style and Velco stripped them down to the floor, no holes. Marine style are water resent not water proof. I use my truck as a truck so once I get my bed liner done floor muddy I open down and flush.
Worth the look?

Re: speakers under the bench seat

I got 6x9 speakers with a box for each one on each side underneath my bench seat. I loosened the seat and slid them underneath it.

Re: speakers under the bench seat

They will fit but you end up sitting on them. Well a fat guy like me anyway!
