Thanks Chuck. I'm trying to do what I can while the block and heads are out getting their magic. I'm very, VERY anxious to at least get the engine and transmission back in for good so I can reassemble the interior, get the front clip back on and do my underbed fuel tank.

I got my vintage air main section assembled and installed in the truck.





Turns out I installed the blower motor (round) cap on backwards... Didn't notice until I was looking at hardware assembly on the big flat cover. Painted and caulked so its too late now. I used a stainless button head screw on it too which now I wish I didn't (since everything else is black). I'll have to use some black touch up paint on it.

I eliminated all the self-tapping screws on the flat cover and replaced them with flat black button head 1/2-20 bolts. Painted the two 1/2-20 bolts that support the unit inside to tone them down a bit. The hardware vintage air supplies just looks cheap. My firewall is completely full of holes not from original equipment/harnesses that are no longer there. Its going to have to wait to get cleaned up and smoothed properly for another time. I hate to think of the can of worms I will open up if I start spiffing it up now. The dang cab will probably come off the frame and I'll get sucked into doing a full frame off.

Thanks Larry. It took two beers and one cup of coffee to finish (the beer was making me sleepy so I needed the coffee..... it was kind of chilly in the garage once I turned off the heat too).

Didn't want to turn on the heat in the garage for just a little bit of work so brought some stuff inside. Converted my control panel over to the vintage air controls. Went OK but I hope it will be more durable than it looks.

Painless makes nice relay kits for stuff like that if you don't want to build your own. Something like this will make it pretty easy. This way you can have tuner still keep AC rpm adjustment on and things like that so it's drives nice and idles nice with AC on and also will have the high rpm shut off feature to protect your compressor.

I just realized that my pcm will not have fan controls as the donor truck had an engine driven fan. I guess I will have to go off of temp switches/relays and tie the A/C in there.

You can have your ecm reflashed for fan controls. Mine was also a mechanical fan with clutch and I converted to 2 electric fans controlled by ecm .

Yes, I did see that I could add fan outputs to my PCM harness last night on lt1swap.com. I believe there is an AC on/request signal input too that I should be able to wire in to tie in the vintage air. Need to do something more research but looks good so far. Thanks gents.

That looks good Rob. I spent the extra money to get a new pedal assembly too- the used stuff I saw looked too used to put in the truck.

Where did you mount the TAC module on your hot-rod bus?

I talked with Lt1.com about ac request also. I was told on dbw setup ac request doesn't need to be setup only dbc need that. My neighbor has dbw with no ac request.

I know that the pcm will automatically bump up the idle when it senses the load change but I think I need the AC request to turn the fans on and off. Your neighbor might have controls for his fans independent of the PCM?
