But since you rang..... the engine is nearly ready to go back to the shop for initial start, break-in and tune. I got my speartech standalone harness this week. Just going to finish up a couple things today and it will be ready to go. I'm working with the shop to schedule the big day for the week of August 14th or 21st. I am very excited about getting it done and being able to get it back in the truck and get the project moving again.

I decided to install the rack and pinion steering (which i still need to buy) after the engine gets installed but before the front clip goes back on. The access is just way too good now to fight with it later on.

Got a few recent pictures of the build.

Improved Racing crank scraper and stroker windage tray bolted on. Blueprinted GM oil pump.



Several thousand dollars worth of cylinder heads, ready to go.



The nearly completed long block. The valve covers and valve cover mounted coils are just temporary. When it gets planted back in the truck it'll get fabbed valve covers and the coils will be hidden.





Initial startup, break-in and tune on the dyno is scheduled for this month.

Just about ready for first fire, break-in and tune. My to-do list at this point is very short and I stopped by the engine shop Friday so we could both align our checklists and get everything ready for the big day.

I am test fitting the intake, fuel rails, steam lines, etc. here at the house ahead of time to make sure there won't be any issues when we are ready to get on the dyno.

I couldn't resist checking out how the headers will look so threw them on for the photo op too.



The intake (FAST 102 LSXRT) is a beast. I can see why the F-body guys can't run them...

Right? It looks like an 8-71 blower. It'll traumatize the ricers for sure.

Its a FAST 102 LSXRT. BUT, you have to have a lot of engine underneath for it to work right. This one is feeding the 403 c.i. stroker underneath it. I don't know how well it would do on the 4.8/5.3's. Probably a lot more intake than needed. Definitely do your homework/research before you pick one up.

Yeah, I would at least look for some 6.0 as a base engine to use or run a stroker before going to that extreme. I'm aiming for a stroked 6.0 for my 2500. But when that time comes, bring on the keg.

Been waiting, waiting, waiting.... Hope to have a good update this weekend.

It was a really long road with endless delays but the engine is done. I got to witness a few final dyno power pulls this afternoon before we tore it down and I brought it home. The end goal was 500 hp at the crank. We did that and more with 590 hp and 566 ft-lbs of torque. The engine keeps making power right to 6,500 rpm so it should be a lot of fun to drive with the 6 spd and 4.56 rear.



I am planning on getting everything back in the truck this coming long weekend. Then the front clip can go back on and I can start getting everything else figured out and put back together.

I ordered/bought an ididit steering column on Sept 20th that I STILL haven't seen yet. They don't tell you about the ridiculous delivery time when you buy it. They are build to order but their 3-4 week delivery is now 8-9+ weeks. Completely ridiculous. It better be perfect if I ever get it.

Thanks. In retrospect (financially) I should have just gotten a new crate motor but this wasn't the plan when I started. It was going to be a stock bottom end 6.0 with 243 heads and a cam. Should get my payback when i get to drive it the first time.

I'm following your new build. Yours makes me want to make mine purty!

But I will be afraid to drive mine because it may get a bug or a rock chip and that's no fun. But depending on how everything drives out I may go posi and super charger but that's only $10k more reasons I will be scared to break it.
