need opinions

I'm building what will turn out to look like a 76-3/4, reality is only the chassis remains. It was a 4 spd truck that I now will swap to automatic. One of the donors had a 700r4 so I was heading that way. Turns out it's so toasted that it really isn't even core material. So now I'm up in the air, 350, 400, 700????
This is only a play toy probaly not even 350hpand it has seen its last days of me working it to death. I do have the drive shaft that accompanied the 700 and the hybrid U-joint for the rear, but that is not that big of a deal. Drive shaft work is minimal, as far as cost, in this project. I'm like everybody else I want the best for the least expensive cost. And Honestly I do not like the idea of potentially screwing up the set up on a 700. All input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: need opinions

Th350 is gonna be the cheapest, no doubt.

TH400 is heavy and sucks power, if you are making the power needed for it, avoid it, imo.

TH700R4, of course the great benifit of OD, better milage, if its a driver, I would consider it. Bad things are the TV cable adjustment, and initial cost.

If it were me, and its just a cruiser, play toy, I would probably stick with the th350, if its gonna be a driver, and see lots of miles, I would strongly consider the th700r4.
