As I am wetsanding the clearcoat what is the best product or solution to use to decontaminate before the next grit...and to use between polishing levels?

For polishing levels I think its best to go with a whole different pad

Just use Water!. as far as buffing just wiping it down with a damp rag I use 3M perfect #1 w/a wool pad and #2 with a foam pad

Re: Wetsand and polish - clean between grits with?

I have been wetsanding with 1000, 1500, 2000 and for the polishing I have the Norton Ice system which has 3 different polisher pads and it does come with a cleanser but I wondered if I should be using something in between the wetsanding as well. Ive been rinsing with water and using microfiber rags. I thought that would be fine but I was wanting to ask those who know first.

I use a wash mitt and regular car wash, and wash out the bucket and mitt between grits.
