Clutch linkage hole in firewall 1970 C 20

Is there some kind of factory plug that covers the hole on automatics?
Thanks

Re: Clutch linkage hole in firewall 1970 C 20

There were 2 types of plugs/covers used from '67 through '72. I believe the push-in plastic plug was used through 1970. After that, an oval steel plate with a screw at the top and bottom was used along with a gasket between the plate and firewall. The plastic plugs had a habit of popping out of the hole perhaps due to the pressure caused when the doors were closed.

Here's an old for sale thread showing the correct plastic plugs. Unfortunately, the seller hasn't been here since 10-15-16.

EDIT: Added picture of the steel version with gasket and screws.

I don't know about the plastic insert, but the metal cover and gasket are repop'd

Do these plugs go on from inside the cab or from the outside via the engine compartment?
