Heater Core Question

Swapping out an older heater core with a new efficient one. For those who swapped them out before what did you use to secure the heater core to the heater unit? The newer design does not work with the older mounts.

I just took some metal banding and bent it to fit, then drilled the mounting holes in the band. (I used the banding that is used for heavy freight packing).
