What exhaust manifolds did you use with the 396?
I have the exact setup now and I to figure that one out.
Did you have to notch the frame?

Yes I cut the top lip of the frame back, I measured and cut it back just like a 1968-1972 truck is, so the frame mount would sit properly . The exhaust manifolds ( I used Sanderson Headers ) are the same as 1968-1970 Impala and 1968-1972 Truck. I think the same manifolds were used into the later 70s also. These mounts I used are dished to clear the manifolds.

Re: Post your pics of 60-66 BIG BLOCK only trucks / engines

Has anyone used the 1973 and up cross member and the same year big block mounts?
I have a 74 3/4 ton and was going to use all the parts for my 65 C30. Or is it best to update the stock C30 and use the 68-70 mounts

You can use the '73+ C20 engine mount brackets as they fit the early frames better than the engine mount brackets from a C10. IMO the clamshell mounts are one of the better engine mount designs.

Those pictures are too small, can you make them bigger so we can see them.

Someday, i'll pull the motor, restify the engine compartment and rebuild or replace the 454. For now, it runs well with an Edelbrock EFI installed 20 years ago that came with the truck when I bought it 7 years ago.

Re: Post your pics of 60-66 BIG BLOCK only trucks / engines

Just got it sitting in there tonight. What a difference. Looks like these trucks should have came this way. A lot of small stuff to go but looks like headers are a good tight fit and the valve covers clear with no notching at all on firewall. Fan on long water pump is as close as you can get but the good news is no spacer necessary.
Going from this

to this.

Looks great. Wish I was ballsy enough to put a big block in mine. I had a 502 in 56 big window back in the day. Total heat pump, but I did work out the details and cruised it quite a lot.
