Re: Project 67

Think I will leave the tank as is unpainted. But been known to have stuff powder coated at the last minute. The other port is a return line if needed. The Coys are sweet C-57s no fitting issues. Look at the black Chrome version..will make ur pants wet with envy!

The tractor paint gloss black n the gloss white is sweet to paint with. Takes a lot longer to dry than other stuff though. After 5 hrs it is still sticky to the touch even with the additive to speed up the drying process. Says 24 hrs to dry on the can. Added the additive still takes at least 12-14 hrs dry to the touch. Hopefully it stays n lasts for a long time in reflection to the elements of the weather. And I personally wouldn't use it on a primered surface even says says not recommended on bare metal surfaces. Very happy with using this paint if sprayed it needs to be used with the recommended reducer becoz it is so thick. Sure would be nice on a frame!

Re: Project 67

When you are working a project like this you constantly get asked about the color. Finally found something n placed a order for a gallon of Shoreline Beige. May not be enough but should get me through the cab and the front fenders. And see how badly I can do this in my garage. ( Single Stage ACRYLIC URETHANE )

Re: Project 67

In my comment about the tractor paint, I would only use it on a Primered surface. Mistyped with a brain malfunction.

Great progress there Sammy.

Have you ran the fuel lines or just getting everything in place for a test fit?

Piece by piece it's coming together nicely.

Re: Project 67

Haven't ran the fuel lines or F to R brake lines yet. Pulling the cab off for the paint this week for my painting efforts next week and will likely run the brake and fuel lines then. Have you installed your tank yet, Scott? I have a steel blazer fuel line with a inline filter thinking of using half way up my frame rail.

Are you wanting a new one or a decent used one? If a used one will do ya, I have several of them, and I'd ship you one if it would help...

Ron,

No not yet. In fact I did not get in on that group buy Boyd tank like I originally planned to do. Life happens you know. For now I'm just using the stock tank.

Re: Project 67

No doubt a decent used one is fine. Thanks.

Just had to experiment with this paint today. Not sure I can handle it. LOL maybe a white roof will brake it up some..Anyway got the inside of the doors n interior of the cab along with the rockers. I will study more on adding some white to the roof to break up the color. Still wet but looks more like sand color to me now that I sprayed it. Grill came out decent very happy with how it turned out. Of course a few cell Pics for the pic hounds.

Re: Project 67

This morning after it has dryed looks much better. But for sure at least the white top. Kinda reminds of my days in "Desert Storm" but glossy. I have it taped n prepped for the door tops n pillars. Check now on a quart of paint. Ohh so not looking forward to buying trim for dressing it out it so darn expensive.

67 C-30 contact me reference to a used Red Bowtie.

Thanxs for the comments n suggestions.

Re: Project 67

Finished the exterior doors in beige. Really turned out nice. Prepped the upper doors n cab roof for white. Placed a order for the paint be here later in the week. Pics then.
Cab, cab interior, firewall, and the doors used almost a half a gallon of paint. Just guessing another full gallon may not finish this project. To change the interior color requires so much additional work. Lots more prep n materials too.

Re: Project 67

Scott, It will be next year before I even worry about locking doors. Just keep an eye out.
Today I got real deep into the steering column. Found out the differences between the 67 n later year column's shaft. The original shaft for this truck was bent bad maybe 3 degrees. Completely gutted the entire column since it was red in color anyway and will need painted. Used a pipe to cure the wobble. Also the main eye let style linkage on the tube was broken off flush. Luckly I had another auto column with enough good parts to salvage. Cleaned all the parts, tomorrow I will use the 2K primer on it and the cab side of the heater box.
I think I will paint the column white when I paint the cab roof n upper doors. Heater box I will use the tractor gloss black paint back to somewhat close to the original color.
