Hi All: Just put on my new interior window handle / door handle and the window handle fits really tight with the escutcheon behind it, and the door handle fits kind of loose with the escutcheon behind it, are they supposed to fit like that or are they both supposed to be snug??? I can't believe a stupid little thing like this is getting on my nerves, its been 6 years since I've had them off so I can't remember. Any help would be great, thanks, Doug

hmmm my window crank handle sticks out like half an inch from the escutcheon... and it won't tighten up. I gave up on it for now.

should be alittle snug ..... i need to replace my regulator on the driver side ...it wont roll up or donw either

It's the plastic washer that fits behind the handle and crank on the doors.

I've had many of these trucks and it seems to me that the door handles are looser than the windo cranks simply due to the fact that people use the the door handle to pull door shut which stresses the mechanism some. My observation anyway.

You get todays spelling "Gold Star" award as well. Congrats!

LOL, I actually had to get the proper spelling from the catalog. I was looking at the pass. side and its identical to the drivers side, so then I got the bright idea that my arm rests were over tightened and was retaining the door panel but that made no difference either, oh well thanks for all the replies, later Doug

Sometimes you find 67-71 truck doors with 72 cheyenne style window and opener mech's in them or 72 doors with 67-71 panels on them. 72 cheyenne window and opener mech's shafts are longer which creates too much space between the crank/handle and the door panel. Just a thought~~~. Huck

WHen restoring my panels I noticed I was missing a foam washer about 1 inch thick that goes between the panel and the door. Does anyone know where to get these?

These are my 30 year old panels, sanded and painted. The guy who painted my truck spent a few hours and painted the inserts. I think they came out great.

I couldn't locate them in Chevy Duty books but LMC sells them. I'm actually driving over there tomorrow at lunch to pick up a full set for mine. The ones I pulled off my truck were petrified.

Those look great filice, and also I did not know about the foam washer behind the door panel (interesting) I'll have to pull my panels and or check LMC to see whats up with my year as the 69's are different, later Doug

ahh, thats why I get occasional rattling and buzzing when playing music (speakers in the lower doors), I don't think I have those foam washers. Why bother paying for the damn things? Just go find a piece of scrap packing foam and make your own.

Something to consider.....The original circular foam spacers found under each door panel WINDOW crank are 1/4 " thick and measure 1 1/2" across at the widest point. The foam spacers found under the door panels for the DOOR OPENER handle are still 1 1/2" at the widest point but measure slightly less than 1/4" in thickness (about 3/16"). These foam seals act to seal the door panels to each mechanism. Foam packing cut to the above dimensions make great replacements as mentioned....hope this helps!

My problem is I got a '72 door and ordered a '69 window crank by mistake. Its so tight it chews into the door panel. I did'nt know they're different lengths.

You guys remember that series on HBO called Not Necessarily The News? Brad Hall hosted a segment where viewers would send in words they made up for common items. Words for stuff like the dried ketchup on the top of the ketchup bottle. Escutcheon sounded like one of those words. I've always called them the "plastic washer". For some reason, escutcheon reminded me of NNTN.
