No Start on a 2001 chevy 1500

im stumped. I got a 2001 chevy 1500 with the 5.3 liter motor. No start, i put a new battery in the truck, cables look good. Removed and had the starter tested, starter is good. Checked relays/fues. Installed a new safety neutral switch, still nothing. Any ideas?? I have power going to the starter..

Re: No Start on a 2001 chevy 1500

OK, I'll give this a try. This is assuming you have a automatic trans. You must have 12 volts on wire #639, it comes from your under hood fuse box and goes to your PNP (park neutral position) switch, it is pink. From there it comes out of that switch as a dark green wire #1433 and goes to starter the relay (also in the under hood fuse box) that circuit provides the 12 volts to the relay. For the ground, it comes from the PCM (power control module) it leaves the PCM on pin 39 of the C1 connector (C1 is the blue 80 pin connector). If you have both of those then the relay has all it needs to close the contacts. Now, on the other side of the relay are the working contacts. The input source is 12 volts from your battery through fuse IGN A, it is a 40 Amp fuse also located in the under hood fuse box. The output of that relay is a purple wire #6, it goes directly to the starter solenoid. If you have power on this wire when you are trying to start and the starter does not spin then your problem is the solenoid or no ground on the starter itself. Have a look at these things and reply.
Good luck.
Rob
