I am sure that you can find a rod somewhere but another alternative is a big truck parts store. Slack adjusters use linkages about that size. Just take the rod in with you and give them the length needed.
just have them grab the parts off the shelf. The round end may be a little tricky but some sort of clutch linkage should work from the same place.

Re: help need pics please

I have found a rod that looks like the one pictured but I thought it was the wrong one because of the big hole end . the small hole fits my booster bracket but the big hole is 1/2 inch and the pedal hole is only 5/16 . I looked for a shoulder bolt at Fastenal and McMaster I can find 1/2 inch shoulder but the threaded part only goes to 3/8 and I really didn't want to drill the hole bigger and the shoulder length only goes down to 1/2 and it only needs to be 5/16 maybe 3/8 at most . I think 1/2 would be too long and let the rod slide too much back and forth probably make the pedal feel wonkie

Re: help need pics please

Ok, so the adjusting end of the rod goes to the brake pedal. The bolt must have a bigger O.D that fits the hole of the rod then down sizes to fit the hole of the pedal and the bolt has a hole drilled in it to put a cotter pin in after it is tightened up,but not tight as it still needs to swivel as the brake is applied. On the booster side there's a pin with one washer and a bevel washer with a special clip just like the pin and clip that holds the rod for the master cylinder. Hope this helps.

You may be able to find a shoulder bolt like it at Grainger or some place like it. That's a pretty special one, what with having the hole for the cotter pin and all. Maybe you can find a used one here. Mine is 50 years old and I trust my life to it. Of course, I've had it out and inspected it when I went to disc brakes. It doesn't appear that LMC (for instance) has it.

If you absolutely can't find one I'd look at a specialty fastener dealer(bolt place) I know there are a couple of places locally.. maybe in your area too.
I saw the place above in a quick search for shoulder bolt. I wonder if you could use a grade 8 5/16" or 1/4" bolt the correct length with a piece of steel tubing over it for a spacer. Use an elastic stop nut to secure it.

I know the feeling with this kind of part. Put in a wanted ad in the parts for sale forum. I'll bet one turns up!

Probably the best idea. Also you might send specialtyretail a P.m asking if he has anything. He has some ads up all the time.
