Ring and Pinion Install Cost

My pinion seal is leaking pretty badly and my bearings feel worn so I ordered a new R&P and install kit to get installed. This is not something I want to do myself and the shop I generally have work done quoted between $600-$800 for labor which I thought was a bit high. How much should this cost? Also, what kind of shop do I need to do a google search on to find a place to do this? Thanks.

I never install customer parts! They either buy mine or get so high of a price that they go somewhere else!

Re: Ring and Pinion Install Cost

If I setup a diff out of the car I charge $300 for a rear. $400 for a front. $100 more for each in the car. And that is my "not a professional shop" rate. Figure it is a 4-6 hour job if they are doing it right.

Re: Ring and Pinion Install Cost

Seems that anything that involves opening up and removing/installing a diff carrier and R/P starts at $1000 and goes up from there. That's parts and labor.
