Rebuilding the TBI on 88 K30...
I thought I’d go ahead and order the TBI gasket set for one of my trucks. Just finished the top. What a pain in the arse removing the base plate with water inlet/outlet. Should have left it alone...

The inlet/outlet on the back side that threads into the base won’t budge, crapola

Anyone know what the heck that base plate with coolant going thru it is for? To cool the TBI?

Dunno why they are on there, the later 454s don't have it. I think for faster warm ups, and to keep from hydrolock when hot. I miss my TBI 454s...

Supposed to keep the Throttle body hot for better fuel atomization and emissions. Poor design by GM. A replacement manifold from Edelbrock puts the water into the manifold itself without the spacer. Gasket underneath the spacer tends to create a vacuum leak after quite a few miles.
