fender repair from door?

Im curious is there any tricks on how to get out the fender dents out of a door that was opened into it? I've tried using my stud gun and slide hammer but haven't been having much luck so far and keep breaking the stud.
Is it best to remove the support and hammer and dolly them out or what?
I"m going to try to get the pics up friday.. I know pictures would help a bunch..
Thanks

Re: fender repair from door?

we use welding rod tack welded to the panel. Its stronger that the Weldon studs
Just get some mild steel tig rod and weld on a 4 inch piece.
Some times the studs break due to not pulling correctly and not having enough studs on the panel.

Try welding a washer on to the metal and then use a hook on the knocker.

Re: fender repair from door?

Rodger55, thanks for the washer idea. I have a stud gun, but it doesn't work on these real trucks. I'm a retired mechanic, but body work is new to me. I've learned a lot on this sight. Thanks again
