Help!

I have tried for 3 days now and unsuccessfully to find this wheel hub seal, the part numbers are worn off. Its included in the grouping of the SBK-1 kit but this seal isn't in the kit. I stopped at the local 4X4 shop today, they have a couple seals ordered for me but they were not 100% sure ether, nobody seems to have a breakdown that lists a seal number.. Anybody?

72 K20
Dana 44-5F MFG 1971
Smaller diameter hubs

(Hub bore)= Seal OD 3.000
(Axle diameter) = Seal ID 2.005

One more question, I got these ball joints a while back almost ready to install, when i pressed the old ones out they have a smooth diameter, the new ones have serrations, is this common? the serration area measures about .007 larger than the old ones, do the serrations just get smashed down to where they look smooth?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Help!

I also looked up the ball joint part on rock auto.
Here is what the part looks like in the listing, and it has the ridges as well but who knows if this is the one they ship. Since the photo is just an example.

I appreciate your help on both posts, I'm heading to Rock auto to have a look.

Re: Help!

Cool man, looks like you found your part.
I use Rockauto all the time for these kinds of parts, since it saves me fuel and frustration in going back and fourth to the local stores.

Re: Help!

The Timken seal Vectorit posted is the one I installed in my axle hubs.

My local O'reillys couldn't figure out the correct rotor hub seal and I looked it up on the Timken webpage and ordered it from Rockauto. Sure looks like it's going to be too big although the number from the old seal crosses to the same Timken seal number.

Re: Help!

Just for clarification and future reference I used Timken 472394 and it fit fine.

The Timken seal catalog is here.

The spindle listing is on page 115 and shows the same part number (472394) for 1960-1972

good luck

Which hubs do you have? That is the seal that 2 places ordered in for me and the ID was about 1.900 Plus some, My ID requires the 2.00 ID, if i recall correctly it was about .068 too small.
