Spray foam? I don't think so, how wold it get in? I'm planing on both picces being sealed. I wold love some pro con feed back on this subject

I was thinking that I've read several posts about shying away from spray foam. Water gets in from condensation.

Hmm well I think you have to air and moisture to get condensation. The other part of this equation is that I'm planning tofilling up both picces with rust inhibiter and then drain them. After a it has dried then filling with spray foam. I can't see how condensation could take place.

great build!!! your fab skills are awesome and I like the additional pics on your site.
On the condensation, moisture is in the air and as it heats and cools the moisture is realeased and in my opinion spray foam wouldn't be the best.

Cool. Mine is saving me so much time not having to look for a tool or moving one out of the way. I have more flat spaces to work on.

Great work on the cart and the B pillar. As far as the foam in the rocker, don't do it. It'll rust and when it does it'll take everything. Need examples? If you want I can try to take pictures of trucks around here. GM and ford have used foam between panels and it does prevent rust for about 4 years. Then it takes off and it's too late. Any 99-07 chevy truck cab corners rockers, bed sides. Ford extended cabs from at least the mid 80's to the late 90's. That crap attracts moisture due to sweating, condensation, and the moisture can't escape due to the foam holding it in. So it has no where to go and it's only avenue is to stay where it's at and start the rust process.

LOL, thank you magi ! it will be a very long time before i ever attempt a CREW CAB ! i think i will just stick to small projects.....shoot it has taken me 8 years this far on a reg cab and i still aint done !

Talent on loan from G . It has been a week since I finished my fabrication cart and I have saved so much time using it, whatever you do toward a fab cart you will not regret. Worked on 4th door All day today will post pics tomorrow.

As of 10:00 this morning I have the door built and ready to hang on the truck. After removing the door skin I will be doing some reenforcements to the inside of the door while the skin is off and then prepare to install the new skin. The skin will be coming off of the suburban where the door should have been in the first place that way I can utilize all the upper pieces of the skin that work with the window opening.









After alot of input from you guys I have decided not to foam fill the rocker and B pillar at least until I can do it without the risk of rust.

Looking great! I'm not sure what wou have for suppliers near you, but usually the body shop supply ware houses will have excellent rust inhibitor coatings that are applied similar to how Ziebart used to do it. That's how my old boss does them and is going to do my Longhorn for me. I'll ask him what brand he's using now.

More door pictures as of 6:00 pm you guys couldn't imagine how much labor there is in making door, one that fits. Bottom picture is something I put together to work on doors, it bolts right on to my welding table.

Unfortunately, I have an idea how long it will take to build one too. But, I'm going to give it a try in a few months. Thanks for posting the pics! You're making it look easy.

A ton more hours working on the locking system, the inside door handle and the linkage that goes with that. The window rolls up and have a few things to do to the front of the door then I'm ready to skin it however before I do anything else I plan to media blast the inside of the door and roof. Getting tired of working with dirty metal. The door skin I will be using will be coming from a suburban behind drivers door.
