Removing water in gas from FUEL CELL?

Somehow my son's truck has water in the fuel. No clue how.

Anyway, I drained the fuel cell, and let it sit overnight with a fan blowing down into it.

Then put in a bottle of HEET and 8 gallons on new, good, clear gas. It ran good for about 4 miles, and then started running like crap again. Pulled the fuel line and checked the gas, it' s piss yellow.

I know the FUEL CELL has foam in the bottom, so I'm thinking that it;s absorbed the water.

Does anyone know my best fix for this?

Thanks

Re: Removing water in gas from FUEL CELL?

The foam wont absorb water but it will cling to it. To see how much water you are getting drain some into a glass jar and let it sit. Water will settle to the bottom pretty quick. Has the cell got a sump in it? If it has it in the rear put it on jack stands in the front to get the cell fully drained. Fuel around here is piss yellow out the pump so I would not go by the color. You can reuse what comes out the cell if you let it sit and don't pour the last gallon back in. Put it in a container you can see into and pour off the good gas till you get close to the water. You also need to drain the fuel lines. The lowest point will collect water along with the carb bowls.

Methyl hydrate will get rid of the water by burning it as fuel.
