New to forum with a 62' K10!

Hello all! I'm glad I found this forum for the 60-66 trucks, the url threw me off at first but I'm thankful it covers my year also. Anyways, Ive been searching high and low for one of these year trucks with factory 4x4 for nearly 2 years now and found this one in Greenville, SC. Incredibly well condition for this truck, according to the previous owner only 200 were made, but I couldn't find any records past 65' so I'm not sure how accurate that is. Factory Arctic a/c with the original compressor dryer and condenser and that beautiful big window. My only real complaint is for whoever "installed" the speakers in the B pillars and that ugly radio, however he did throw in a huge page full of extra parts, along with everything I needed for the truck other than the fenders. I have some really big plans for this truck and I plan to slowly start on it after getting a floor pan in my 69' Chevelle

Also, this was a 3spd 327 truck, can anyone share any info on what trans this is, value, etc? it is much more beefier than any other 3spd trans ive ever saw.

Thanks!

Re: New to forum with a 62' K10!

Welcome
Not sure of the numbers, but yes that is a very rare and well optioned truck. I spent a lot more than 2 years trying to find mine! Don't know anything about the 3 spd, as most were 4 spds, but can tell you that if that is a 327 it's not original ( a common swap, that's what was in mine when I bought it as well)
Please don't let anybody convince you that the factory running gear is junk and that you can't get parts. With proper care unless you plan on rock crawling in Utah it will all hold up just fine.
The 4x4 section of this forum is a great source of info, I have learned a lot from those guys, and they can help you find parts that may seem impossible to locate.
Have fun with your new project
Tom

I thought it seemed odd for it to not have a 4spd gearbox also, I will definitely look into that, thank you!

Welcome to the forum! I spent four years working on my 62, it looked good but rode and drove like a 50's farm tractor. After a terrifying drive on the freeway I found it a new home.

Wow that’s a beautiful one, I don’t believe I’ve saw anything but 60-61s in that seafoam color. I’ll sell my kidney before I ever sell my truck lol

Re: New to forum with a 62' K10!

Also, if anyone can confirm, the previous owner said that the rear bumper that came with it was original. It is a diamond plate bumper, I didn't think they used any of that from factory in the 60s but I looked at a picture of a 62' K10 from a barrett Jackson auction pic and it had one on it identical to this one

looks like the M330, I don't think it was offered as far back as 62 but I could be wrong. I have one in my 70 SWB K10.
