Power steering question

I have a 73 with a 65 model 327 in it with 3 speed. It has manual steering
and I want to change it to power steering. The man at the junk yard said
I would need pump, box, line's,arm and steering column. Is the manual
steering shaft the same size as the power steering shaft.I didn't know that I had to change the column......Thanks in advance for any info

Re: Power steering question

I'm not sure if the '78's are different than '73...but for mine, I just needed the ps box - and matching pitman arm, the lines, the pump and brackets to match my engine, and a v-belt. I bought a new coupler because mine was gnarly, and I fit it right on the ol' manual column. The coupler fit a little funky, but not unsafe...I attributed the fit to being a "universal" GM coupler from Dorman.
