West coast custom mirror help needed

I’m new to the form so I hope I’m asking this in the right area.

I’ve got a 1967 C30 with a car hauler flatbed. Right now it’s got the smaller mirrors on it and I would like to get a set of the west coast custom hauler mirrors. I found a truck for sale in my area that has them, but the mirrors by themselves are not for sale. I was able to take the measurements off of them for future reference. Now I found another set, but they are off of a newer dodge and the same measurements are slightly different by a few inches. Does anyone know if they are a somewhat universal set of mirrors between different manufacturers? There seems to be a lot of adjustment in them, but I really hate to try make a deal on them and then have it be a waste of money and time. I appreciate any help you can provide in getting these mirrors figured out or a set found that will work properly.

For reference I’ve attached a picture of the set off mirrors I got my measurements from.

Thanks,

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

No, get the right ones. They are made for each specific body style and brand. They are referred to as Sr West Coast mirrors. There were universal Jr West coasts sold by Pep Boys, Western Auto, and such. Those had two piece arms with one tube slid inside the other with a clamp to hold it. They have the smaller heads and they just look cheap. Probably vibrate pretty bad, too. Look on the parts board or contact a member who parts trucks

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

I have the ones like Special K mentioned on my 77 C30 (they came on it)

Yours are a lot better than mine as you don't have the slippy slidey tubes like mine do.
That is a whole lot nicer set than I have.

Most of the mirror heads are right around 16 inches tall with some being 18-1/2 but you aren't going to gain anything with the 18-1/2 inch mirrors.

If your search isn't working it is because you put "custom" in it. West Coast mirrors have nothing to do with West coast customs or any other " custom" outfit except they might be sold at a custom chrome shop for semi trucks. The semi truck trinket shops where all of those guys get their extra lights and chrome doo dads might have better looking mirror heads.

I have the same mirror heads you have an they are a Grote item. I bought mine at a local parts house when I broke one and the other was already cracked.

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

Just put West Coast mirrors and nothing else in your search and you will find more than you want to look at.

Whoa whoa whoa!!! You can’t just bust up in here with that username!!

My ‘67 C-30 came with Jr West Coast mirrors. It shouldn’t be too hard to find a set.

Hey, just because I am not a "Member of the 1-Ton Club!" doesn't mean you have to discriminate against blue trucks. They are just as useful as red trucks.

I think he meant "MR48Chev", and was joking.

Pretty much all the big C-model trucks came with these mirrors, if you have any good old truck junkyards you can hit

I thought this was your thread before I opened it up. Mr 48, sorry I was so harsh on those mirrors. They're not bad, better than most, and not worth drilling holes to change. I could live with them but certainly prefer OEM quality and fit.

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

Thanks so much for your help guys! I really appreciate it. I’ll make sure to hold out for the correct west coast senior mirrors that fit my truck. I don’t need them right now, but would like to find them ASAP so that I have them available when I’m restoring it. I did some searching on here and found a few that recently sold so hopefully some more will come up for sale and I can pick them up.

That’s too funny I picked a similar username as you 67_C-30. I thought I was being unique. I guess not! Lol!

Have a great weekend guys. Here’s a picture of my C-30 I’m going to be restoring that I need these west coast senior mirrors for.

That’s a cool truck. I had a ‘69 ramp truck that I made a lot money with back in the day. I sold it several years ago, and I kinda wish I had kept it.

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

Thanks for the compliment on my truck. Those are some cool looking ramp trucks as well. I really wish mine had the ramp that those have on it or the nostalgic racing wedge style would have been cool too. I’m planning to use mine to haul my 1969 Camaro to some local car shows to look like a nostalgic drag racer. I’ve got some work ahead of me. My truck was originally red with a white lid as well. I’m thinking that’s probably the colors I’m going to go back to. I can’t wait to get it done it’s going to be so cool!

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

It wouldn’t be too hard to close in the sides and build toolboxes on yours. The big toolboxes on both sides were awesome. I kept chocks, chains, j hooks, straps, spare parts, and the auxiliary battery for the winch was in the passenger side one.

Talking about it is making me wanna go buy it back! 😂

Thumbs up Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

I have a 3' box a friend gave me for it. I just haven't had the time to weld it in yet. My plan is to add it on the passenger side and drop the 2-6 volt deep cycle batteries into it for the winch.
The 68 step was the first full size vehicle I hauled on it.

Re: West coast custom mirror help needed

Sorry for the delay in responding. It’s been a bit busy around here for me.

I really appreciate all the help you guys have provided. I’m thinking I might need to cruise the rural country side to see if I can find any medium duty trucks that might have these mirrors on them that I can buy. There is enough farm land around my area that there has to be at least one truck with these mirrors on it.

Thanks for the advice about hanging boxes underneath the bed. My truck has and old pickup tool box mounted under the bed on the drivers side. It suppose to slide out, but years of Minnesota rust has it stuck so it won’t slide out. I’m thinking I need to find something different that maybe has doors that swing out instead of the whole thing sliding out.

Thanks again everyone and have a nice memorial weekend.
