Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

And the winner is 3757chevy! Please PM me your shirt size and shipping address.

Thank you all for your participation. I need to figure out how ChevyLand gets such a good response to his contests. Maybe offer a hat instead of a shirt. Maybe throw in a few pictures of beautiful women . . . I need to think about this before next year.

Happy New Year everyone, Rob

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

I got all my lights down Monday . I spent probably 12 hrs total over the last couple of weekends. We light up through Christmas night and again on New Year's Eve 'til midnight. I start taking stuff down Jan. 1 ; my neighbors have lights up from the previous owner that they don't even turn on?

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

Hahaha, that's funny. Some people don't look much at their house. Maybe they don't know they're there...ha hah.

Funny to see someone so into putting up a display be in such a hurry to take it down. I have lived here a long time, most homes have changed hands. It's a little valley with a lot of old houses along it as well as farmhouses. I always left mine burning till new years day till my son was born 1/2/92. Since then I've left them on another week because we usually celebrated his birthday the weekend after new years. More and more people have been doing lights and now it seems they all leave them on this long. That would have been last weekend and everybody still has them on. I wonder how long this will last? lol

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

We had a guy in our neighborhood that had two giant 5' tall nutcrackers that they put out one Christmas and left out on their porch for THREE YEARS?

They FINALLY took them down this year, a couple months before Christmas?

The town you live in is really not that big and so for you to light up your buildings and truck and everything else is evidently something you do mainly for your family ..good for you

I say this as I have talked to people before that say they live on a dead end road and not enough people will see their lights if they did the house all up..to much work for nothing was their attitude towards Christmas lighting.

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

I get people driving by seeing my house but that's just a cool side benefit. I decorate knowing I rarely have visitors and no get-togethers for Christmas here. My son is 25 and peobably doesn't give them a thought. But I do it for myself and even him. It's better than doing nothing. I get a lot of joy out of it and I'm just maintaining what my son has come to expect where he knows it or not. I want him to want to put lights up on his house for his kids one day and this is where it comes from. I'm not a bottom line person. I like to live my life on a higher level.

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

I have a busy county road runs behind the house, that's where the treehouse is. I had people drive by and stop out front to check out the truck.

Yeah Tim.. I kinda gathered thru the years you were on a quiet road ,,so,, good for you... to light it anyway ..that's where the Christmas Spirit is shown the most ,,

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

I think it's the best to be out in the middle of nowhere and the one house you see has lights. My town has one of those classic small town main streets that every hose should have lights on. It's pretty good now.

Re: Holiday Decoration Contest

I was pleasantly surprised when we got our electric bill today, it was only up $7 from the month before. Those LED lights are helping, in years past we would be up $15 or more.
