Re: tahoe roof rack

No. Only a 2-door Tahoe/Yukon rack will work.

2-doors have 2 mounting bases on each side, 4-doors have 3 on each side and Suburbans have 4 bases. Plus, the overall rack length is different.

Everyone I have ever know wants to "remove" the factory rack. You are the first person I have ever known that wants to install one. If you actually plan to use one, you will need the rub strips to protect your paint. Personally I would look in to an alternative before I started drilling holes in my roof.

Re: tahoe roof rack

I'll third that one. I have a rack from my 4-door Yukon and my Suburban laying in my backyard. Those were the first things to come off when I bought them.

Re: tahoe roof rack

well my holes are there already . previous owner just put tape over them. i havent seen none around my town with racks on or at least 2 door tahoes and i always been curious if it would look right. mine is dropped on 22s now . was on 24s but i got tired of them tires and ride quality so down graded and enjoying it better.

Re: tahoe roof rack

I just filled the holes on my Suburban with silicone. The rack would look more right if your Tahoe was stock, but dropped on wheels, it won't look right at all. But that's just my views on it. Empire Motorsports makes billet plates to cover the holes. I had a set on my Yukon. I just haven't felt like spending the money for them for my Suburban yet.

Re: tahoe roof rack

This is what a lowered 2dr looks like with the roof rack. . I was hopeing to wait till it was warmer to take it off so that the sun would help taking the black strips off.

Just drill the heads out. That's how I took care of stubborn screws on mine. Drill the head out until it falls off and then you can slide the rack over the screw. Then take a pair of pliers or Vise Grips and twist the threads out with the rack off.

Thats what I was going to try. Once you got the rack off did they come out ok? It feels like mine will come out so far and the the base button starts to spin. I was planing on getting some button head allen screws painted white to put back in place.

Re: tahoe roof rack

Yeah. Mine came out fine. The heads of the screws were stripped and that's why they wouldn't come. I've never dealt with a spinning base. I filled the holes of mine with silicone and then painted them with some touch-up.
