Looks GREAT! What shifter is that? Lokar or did ya fab that too? I had a Genie in my last rig and dont recall it being that tall. Sweet ride!

The scallops took a night to do, and I wasn't sure if I'd like em, but I know for sure they are definitely going on the finished truck when I actually paint it.

It will be getting a front bumper, I just don't have one or any brackets right now. The frame is a full fabricated 2x5 pro street, so I'll have to address that in terms of mounting the brackets to it. I haven't decided yet if the front bumper/grille will end up chrome or white, and what color the truck will be either.

The shifter is a 32" Lokar unit with the double-bend. Funny thing is, since it is rear engined, the floor is flat (no tranny hump) so the shifter would sit even higher with the hump there.

The TH425 came in Olds Toronados and Cadillac Eldorados. Not sure the years. The engine is a 455 from 1969 with the "C" heads on it and the torquey cam. It makes just shy of 400hp at 4500rpm I believe, and just shy of 500lb/ft torque at 3200rpm if I recall. Power is not an issue in this case, but amazingly getting it to hook if I wanted to wheelstand, is.

Since I've put this on the road, the whole world figures they can do it in a weekend, everyone's building rear engine trucks, just a bolt in thing, right?

. Yes, the idea is simple, but what people don't realize is the complexity of a subframe, the full length 2x5 frame, the custom rear suspension, cooling issues, and most importantly, rear geometry. I can't count how many CV boots I tore off trying to get it just right..... The main problem is the transaxle is too wide for the truck. The rear fenders had to be flared, and I can only fit one offset of steelies on the rear, no more no less. The bed has to be removed to remove the rear wheels, no question. I never thought I'd put 6 months work into a vehicle without having some BIG changes, but in the end I'm happy with how it's turning out. It's no bolt in, that's for sure, but nothing worth it ever is, right?

The TH425 came in them from 66 to around 76-77 from what I remember

Not too terribly much to tell. We don't get a lot of summer, so I've been out doing everything with this unit. I've put on city miles, highway miles, even 1/4 miles, everywhere I can. I've put on around 1500 miles this year, ranging in fuel economy from 8mpg at the start to 15mpg. It is still running quite rich, so I'm shooting for a goal of 18mpg in end. On the track it ran a 14.7@90mph. With 235/75/15's on the back, and 35lbs of pressure in them, it still cuts a 2.0 60' time

. For next year, I will be running an offy dual quad setup, a higher stall converter, and headers, so we shall see just what this thing is capable of. The 14.7 felt like a relaxing cruise, I want it to feel psychotic, the way it looks.... As soon as the snow flies, I plan on really tearing into it, doing body, paint, interior, and the last little engine goodies.

Not an update in forever sadly. The truck is not on youtube yet, but was recently used in a music video for a 40's blues singer.

I now work about 100 miles from my shop, so no more going at it every night. Next month I plan on really tearing into it on my days off, however.

Thanks guys, the video was a lot of fun, no cash was made, as I was just an extra at first, then they decided they wanted the truck. It was shot in one day, I believe 15 hours start to finish, a really kool experience that I was stoked to be a part of. I'd totally do that again for free.

A new update, and a few more additions, soem WELL worth it, some just pure shock value...

A front bumper, for safety, and to look friggin kool and that much lower, 4 1/2" clearance under it to be exact (not the lowest point)

Manual box steering. With a weight ratio like this, a necessity. I'll never go back.

I believe the expression is, shaved?

Last years battery setup that was rigged off of stock just didn't do it....

Nor did last years stereo...

And finally, although unfinished, a rear body section!
