Re: Mike J's ratty 68 Longbed project

I'll trade you front bumpers, I have a driver quality chrome rear bumper and so so front bumper LOL. I wanna check out your truck someday. Ya gonna be goin to cruise ins this spring?

I got a gun rack off a parts truck, I might have it somewhere but i think my dad threw it away lol (needed a restoration!).

Gun rack lol
spotlight
side trim
headlight winkers

to make an awesome truck really awesome lol

ps you'll have to drill holes for gunrack, my truck already had the holes (every old truck has to have gunracks lol)

Re: Mike J's ratty 68 Longbed project

my front bumper isn't nice either- chrome is peeling off- which looks cool to me, but I have a white rear one, so i'd like a white front one- but I don't want it to look nice. Check and see if you have the gunrack, i'd definately take it if it looked rough! I dont trust my truck to go 20 miles yet, so not going anywhere far as of right now lol

I feel like we are building almost the same truck. When I was looking for bumpers everyone had chrome but no one had the crusty white bumper, that I wanted. I did find them, though. And I also have tags that patch my floor, but I'm not to worried about that either. and my steering wheel is from a '56 bel air -18 3/4" its big. I really like your truck alot. looks good keep at it.

Re: Mike J's ratty 68 Longbed project

Hey Mike! Nice build so far. Definately love the way you're going with the truck. I think it's cool how you can see a bit of the person in the truck.
I finally got around to checkin' out your build! Been too busy reading up on forums for ideas and parts and ignition timing issues!
My clearcoat is bubbling and pealing. PO did a cheap or painted a long time ago. Thinkin' about spray bombing mine if I can find a close to what I'm wanting color. Plus I can't stand that my interior is painted silver!!
When we get these things road worthy again we're gonna have to meet up!

Re: Mike J's ratty 68 Longbed project

Love the drop on your truck, and the wheel and tire combo, and the "custom" two tone. I just so happen to have a white front bumper that was on the '67 frame I got to replace my 68's bent frame. I can't sell it to you on here since I can't afford to spare the $25 fee since I was laid off but I would give it to you. Now if only we were closer or another board member were going to be taking a road trip soon.

Here's a pic of it when it was still on the frame.

Re: Mike J's ratty 68 Longbed project

Awesome truck, love the stance. I noticed you cut the bed. Was this for a notch? If not how's it handle and do you bottom out? I just gotta 68 lwb and want it set like yours does. How high from the ground is the tailgate when its down? Want to know for loading a bike and some ideas on how low to go.

Thanks
Jake
