bigred #2

years ago my dad owned a 77 chev 1 ton with a 3 inch lift and i loved it. had 33 inch tires but it rotted out and we parted it out.

i was going to buy this truck about a year ago for the cab for my other build but he wanted 1500 for it. so now that my 76 chev half ton needs a motor i thought bout this one. After i saw the shape its in and how nice it ran i cant part it out. it will be my dd when i get my N. ps, i got it for 800 bucks.

so what it is, is a 1980 long box with a late 70s front clip, 3\4 ton 4x4. all the rust in it is the cab corners, thats amazing for being down here. its got a 10 year old crate motor on propane that docent miss a beat, attached to a 10 year old trans witch all works great.

plans:
paint(will do in summer)
rear shackle flip
b52 kit upfront around 4 inch lift
twin stick 205
aluminum intake
35s
pretty up the interior a bit

what i have done already:
bald 33s off bigred #1
head ache rack
prepped for primer

on with the pics

ill post pictures of pictures of bigred #1 later.

thanks guys.

Re: bigred #2

And here is the picture of the original truck. Dad bought it years ago went to part it out and found out mud drags was coming up. so he just threw doors on it and used it, he sold the box and doors from it.

after paint

stuck

just before he got stuck

just before part out.

its last steps

after this it sat in the yard as a rolling truck till i got my first chev when i was 14. I stole the lift and t and then we threw the cab away. still have the frame, rearend, tranny and tcase tho!

Re: bigred #2

Story time....

So this weekend i have leaned somthin, my winch is for my use not helping other people, yea i sound like a snob but for a good reason. Me and my buddy went up to "shawnigan" gravel rd lookin for scrap steel and thought we would clean up the bush a little. so we did and on the way out there was a jeep stuck in a mud bog with a excavator trying to get him out. He couldent so i thought if be a nice guy and help him out, so i drove in and the excavator drove out and started diggin trenches so we couldn't get out?!! We finally get this jeep out and half to use a little mud trail thats bout 3 feet of mud with a hill climb at the end! Took bout 10 runs at it so we started running winch so finally got out and now i have no rear wheel drive.... then the cops show up! so long story short the cop understood what was happening and the jeep took all the responsibility and blame only got a 109$ fine for tress passing, she felt bad for me cause i broke my truck helping so random kid out and i was cleaning up the bush... Lookin back now it was a blast!! Motors rawrin! tires spinnin! mud flyin! tires burnin!! ah good times!
ended up getting 78 bucks in scrap, well it paid for fun

funnyest part of the whole day is the cop walking up when mud was flyin and saying "what the hell is goin on here" and laughed!

Re: bigred #2

Good story and at least you had fun. Sorry to hear your truck broke down, but now you can fix and make better.

I had similar thing happen to me but only broke a side mirror trying to pull a buddy out.
