also found my aluminum ring I made for the fuel pump hold down, now I can finish that up, after I find a schematic for the pump

Re: PO has me PO'd

four years and finically, have my aluminum rad. mounted to the 67-68 front core support (only designed for a two row rad.)using four row rubber bushes and brackets

[url=https://flic.kr/p/Wv5Cfw]20170725_161156

5/16tpi stud was the key to pull down straight, and then use the OEM bolt. bought a bag of them at Fastenal thru AUeevo black phorous coated and washer that rotates but doesn't come off

thanks Richard, but I may have spoken to soon. Talked to a couple more knowledgeable people the other day, and found out that the fast dual sync distri. is the hard way to go! EFI Connections out of Erie Pa. set me up with a aluminum timing chain cover with an internal crank trigger and 4 pole reluctor ring. Also, a distri. with a built in cam sensor. There is a OEM one year only distri., but I don't feel like sourcing that out.

My installer quoted me a price of 1500- 2500 to wire this animal up, and dyno time to get it running right.

Parts should be in, in a couple weeks. In the meantime, I get to tear the front of my engine apart one more time. Thank goodness I have that cross member that my son and I had modified from DIY4x4, makes it much easier to drop the pan

Anyone want to buy a Cloyes timing cover with cam button? I'll be posting it soon in the classified section

Thanks for watching, this beast may work soon

Re: PO has me PO'd

talked to EFI, and they said the clearance between the reluctor ring tooth and sensor s/b 30 thou. measured mine and came up with 23 thou., so I added a 10 thou. spacer

Re: PO has me PO'd

timing chain cover installed, with crank sensor

word of caution...with the reluctor installed, it will push your balancer out maybe 100 thou., so alignment of belts and pulleys may be a problem in my future, we'll have to wait and see

Re: PO has me PO'd

All you have to do is turn the correct amount off of the snout of the balancer or find a balancer from a L31 Vortec.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Kinda hard to hold w/p, 4 gaskets and 2 March brackets in alignment at the same time, so I use exhaust studs for alignment, then remove to bolt up....

Captain, good for the income, bad for the toys! Glad I'm outta that rat race

the gaskets had a chance to set up, so, I took one bolt out at a time and reinstalled with thread sealer. Left side mounting bolts were a PITA, had to use a ball end allen wrench to tighten
