LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

Has anyone installed the LMC shoulder strap seat belt kits? I would like to know if anyone has done it with out drilling any extra holes in the floor? The installation instructions are terrible! we replaced the old lap belts and I can not for the life of me figure out how to get the bottoms installed with out drilling an extra hole in the cab. if anyone has pictures of what they did I would appreciate it very much!

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

You need an extra hole, no way around it. I opted to drill mine through the seat brace in the floor, since it is heavily reinforced, and used large washers so it wouldn't pull through.

There are multiple threads on this already... I searched and found the one with photos and so here:

I'm not an expert, not an engineer, and I doubt this would pass DOT regs.... emulate at your own risk!

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

I have a set also that I have yet to install but does the anchor side of the lap belt not attach to the same hole/bolt at the top of the "L" bracket that the retractor uses?

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

The first pic is of the passenger side? How did the driver side go with the gas tank right in the way?

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

I do not have a factory tank so that could be an issue

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

If you don't have the tank behind the seat it is going to help big time on the drivers side

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

On mine, I didn't get them from LMC. I used the factory seat belt retractor bolt hole. I added a 90* bracket that was included in my kit. I placed it under my retractor and secured it with a grade 12 frame bolt and then added another nut to the bottom side. I attached the other part of the shoulder belt to the 90* bracket. I might change it because I need some more room in the seat belt. My seat sets up pretty high so with the seat belt on, you don't have much room to move forward and it is annoying.

Re: LMC shoulder strap seat belt installation

I took a high speed step bit and bored out the existing seat belt hole in the floor large enough to put the bolt that came with the kit through it. Worked well. I drilled entirely new holes for the receptacle side.

One thing I don't like about it is that with the seat back all the way, the receptacle is a little long and as such, the lap portion rides a little high. Makes me suspect that submarining would be an issue in a crash, negating the benefits of the shoulder belt. I also don't like how slowly you have to pull out the belt to prevent the mechanism from catching and locking up.
