66 burb

Hey guys I need some info. I have a 12 bolt 411 rearend in my burb and I'm wanting to put a limited slip differential in it. Anyone know the specs on what to buy? It's all original. I have looked at several online. I have my axles at a machine shop now so I can't count my splines right now. Just wondering if anyone has done one before and might have some info.

Thanks.

Re: 66 burb

Assuming the differential is a '65 and up truck 12 bolt, it will have 30 spline axles. If you are keeping the 4.10 gears, you will simply need a 4 series carrier. If you are going with 3.42 gears or higher, you will need a 3 series carrier. If you are keeping the 4.10's and just changine the carrier, be sure to keep the shims together and on the same side they came from. You should still check the gear contact pattern afterwards to be sure the tooth pattern is the same as before. If you are changing gears also, you may or may not want to do that yourself, depending on your tools and skills.

Thanks for the info. When I buy one I'll have it set up at a shop.
