Door latch??

I've read about the "lever" style door latches sagging and opening at inopportune times.

I have read about the Altman conversions.

My question is about the later push button latches. If they are new repop latches, are they safe latches? I like the look of the latch and the catch and would like to use them, but not if they aren't safe.

Thanks

Mine have never come open and it was used to run a grain elevator the first 30 years of life and I used it for many years on the farm. I crossed dry creek beds and did much rough driving. Never opened. You just need to make sure you close the door and have them adjusted.

That being said, I have often times considered the Altman conversion, but only cause I like modern ideas on the old truck.

Re: Door latch??

Somewhat safe as long as they are in real good shape, the hinges are in good shape and everything is adjusted right.

Worn out latches and or miss adjusted AD doors tend to pop open at the wring time from what my experience has been including having my wife fall out of the truck when the door came open.. She was sitting with her back against the door and leaning on the door so It wasn't all door or latch but one has to be a bit more careful with them than with late model doors.
