How to get rid of duct tape goo off of glass?
Hi everyone, I have been lurking for years
and try to help when I think I have a good idea,fact opinion, or just plain been drinking and can’t help myself lol But my girlfriend has put duct tape on my window to stop it from falling and after sitting on the window for over a year I can’t get the window clean. Anyone have any advice? |

Glass cleaner and a single-edge razor blade. Keep the glass wet and the blade won't scratch it.
Or you could try some Goof-Off, which is just napthalene in a can.

I use brake cleaner and a rag, then finish it with window cleaner.
People use duct tape to hold up windows when the regulator or motor quit. It's the worst to clean off of painted surfaces and rubber. It's about the worst tape you can use. Please use anything else. |

Double 00 steel wool works wonders! Just make sure you get rid of any dust created!

Scrape the majority of it off with a razor blade and then,Acetone and a ragg, or...... sounds stupid but our parents used it and it works,
Ronson's lighter fluid and paper towel. Windex afterwards to clean up the petroleum residue . Cheep, easy and totally Red neck.

The best way is get another girl friend!
  For the glass though use a razor blade with goo gone are mineral spirits. Windex will work to.

ZEP's Orange Gel Degreaser is what I'd reach for but I have a bottle of it left over from my sales rep. days.
I suspect the other suggestions would be much cheaper if one had to buy. |

Carb cleaner can dissolve the sticky residue without affecting the tint. Just wash the windows immediately.
