Thanks. I've been following your build for awhile. She turned out awesome. On a side note, Are you planning on attending the Superrun this coming summer? I was thinking about heading down.

Re: 72, 2wd blazer

I missed it in '09. I have been waiting for it to come back around. I think you have to pre-register though. I was thinking of bringing both my Blazer and my Shortbox.

I'm not a big fan of "entering" into shows anymore; you're stuck there for the duration-I'd rather come and go as I please. In '09 a WICKED storm blew through and lots of owners weren't there; rag tops etc. left with tops down and windows open.
Be cool to do a c-10/Blazer/Suburban convoy through town a few laps.

I have never been able to attend a show this big, so I think I will enter. As far as rain goes, I would be screwed whether I am around the truck or not. I'll be topless. I would definately be up for cruise though.

Re: 72, 2wd blazer

I love the color and the stance of your Blazer! But I'm a little confused. It has the '72 grill, but 6-lug suspension? I thought the '71-'72 2wd trucks and Blazers were 5-lug. Is it possible it's a '69 or '70 with a '72 grill? Either way It's bad @ss.

Nice catch
It is absolutely a '72. When I purchased the blazer I had already purchased the wheels for a different project. So I decided to convert it to fit the rims. Quite simple actually. Conversion axles and rotors from ECE and 6-bolt drums from my local parts shop. In total I think it cost me about $800.00 or so.

Well that clears it all up. I've never seen any one go 5 to 6 lug. It sorta threw me for a loop. Do you have any other plans in store for it?

Current plans are to just drive it I am in the process of builing a 68 shortbox, so funds are kinda tight for a second project. When the 68 is driving I will probably put a 67/68 clip on the blazer repaint it the factory color and maybe bag it. Not really sure yet though.

I'm trying to figure out what drop my blazer has so that I can figure out what I want to do to tweak the suspension.

Sorry for the delay, I kinda forgot Anyways, where I have the truck stored is quite tight so I was unable to get a level in there and be super accurate. So here's what I got, from the bottom of the fender lip to the center of the hub is approximately 14-1/2" at the rear and approximately 14-1/2" at the front. Front wheels are 20"x8" with 245/35/20 tires. The rears are 22"x9.5" with 265/35/22. Hope this helps.

Re: 72, 2wd blazer

Finally digging into my Blazer. She's in need of some major love.

To do list :
New motor/tranny. 383/4L60
Interior refresh
Replace leaky fuel tank
Rear shock mount relocators and new shocks all the way around
Maybe swap the front clip, depending on budget

The engine, picked it up from a buddy of mine. He had it in a Hot Rod, went for a big block instead. Pulled it out with only 5500km's on it. Works for me

I would love to have a factory 2wd that color.
It's one of my favorite colors on these old trucks.
I hope you don't change it.

No worries. I don't see myself ever changing the color. Funny part is, when I bought the truck I couldn't wait to change it. Now I love it. It's just a very timeless color.

Re: 72, 2wd blazer

Pulled the clip, much easier to clean and detail this way. It'll be going back on, I don't think there is any money in the budget for the swap this year.

It's amazing how much crap can fill the nooks and crannies. The nice part is all bolts came off without any issues. A very pleasant surprise. I don't think I've ever taken one apart so easily.

Left work early today so I could pick the little man up from school. He told me he wanted to help finish taking the motor out. I was more than happy to oblige. Probably the longest it's ever taken me, but totally worth it
