2004 5.3l Throwin codes P0401/P0402

Hey guys I mainly post over in the 73-87 and 67-72 section but I have an issue with my DD. I have a 2004 1500 5.3l and the CEL just came on. Checked the codes and they are P0401/P0402 for "EGR A Flow Insufficient"/EGR A Flow Excessive"

The problem is, my motor does not have an EGR valve installed from the factory. EGR vale is usually on the PS head forward of the oil cap.
Anyone have any experience with this?

FWIW the truck has 115K and has run like a champ since I bought it at 90K. There doesn't seem to be a change in anything since the code appeared.

I would try a different code reader, An '04 5.3L PCM doesn't support those 2 codes.

Thanks. It was at O'reillys. I saw the codes on the screen. However, I'll give another shop a chance.

I would guess they were 301 and 302, misfire codes. Never seen an EGR problem on a vehicle without an EGR valve

Maybe it was leftover from a previous scan

you really need to find a different code reader there shoudl not be an egr code when the computer is not programed for it unless it has the wrong computer in it
